Director of Accounting

Franklin University is seeking a Director of Accounting to manage the accounting department, which provides information, primarily financial in nature, about all University activities. The primary purpose of the role is to assist management, its trustees and other users in making educated economic decisions about the University’s financial resources by providing timely and accurate financial statements and analysis. Specific duties for this position include maintaining all official accounting records in conformance with GAAP and higher education standards, overseeing the activities of the Accounting Department including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, student loan activity, travel and other areas of the accounting function. This person will be responsible for regulatory compliance, routine accounting processes and internal control functions, supervision and training of personnel within the Accounting Department and working with the CFO to facilitate his/her financial needs.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting mindset including an understanding of routine processes, general ledger, journal entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, loan and grant knowledge. A Bachelors degree in Accounting plus 5-10 years of relevant industry experience is a requirement, with a CPA a plus. EFT, online payment and credit card transaction knowledge is also required. The successful candidate will also have a customer-centered philosophy.
